What would your dream circular needle look like?? Read on to see my verdict...
It turns out that I have some exciting knitting projects in the works!
I've always used the standard knitting needles from the haberdashery store, or borrowed from my mil's huge stash that she has accumulated.
I've experimented with bamboo, and do love the feel of them, but now speed is more of an issue, I thought I'd try stepping it up a notch, and seeing whether a higher end needle would make a difference.
One of my friends laughed when I told her I was buying 'fast' needles, but when I explained all the things that can slow you down when you're knitting, she was really interested.
I'm also using this beautiful Adorn Silky Cashmerino 4ply, which I purchased from woolbaa.
What a dream to work with! The yarn just gleams with the silk content, and knits up so beautifully...
I've read a few reviews of different brands, and HiyaHiya's circulars seemed to have the best reviews in my price range.
What I really like:
Pointier tip makes picking up the next stitch really easy.
The needles are made from stainless steel makes the stitches slide along effortlessly.
The slipperiness takes a bit of getting used to at first, but didn't take me long at all to love this aspect.
There is no catching at all where the needle joins to the cord, so no stopping to un-snag your stitches.
Love this!
What I don't like so much:
The cord is still a little stiff, and seems to get in the way a bit while knitting in the round.
Though it's much better than any of the other ones I have.
Overall verdict:
These HiyaHiya needles have greatly increased my speed in terms of the number of times you have to stop to adjust, slow down for snags and slide up stitches.
This means much more time to get your rhythm going and enjoy knitting!
Though I have never tried any of the other brands that boast great features, these needles are great value, and have been a great experience!
I now have my eye on a whole set of interchangeable sizes and cords.
