One of my favourite things to do, especially as the weather closes in for winter here in the Adelaide Hills, is to draw or paint with my children. I try to give them inspiration and confidence to try new things. I don't know where I got my 'can do' attitude from...but it's one of the things I really want to impart to them. That you never know what you can do until you try. Here's some of my doodles from the other day...nothing amazing, but I had a lot of fun, and would love nothing better than to do this all day (along with a bit of knitting and sewing), and see if I could improve...Some of you with children might, just might, recognize these pictures from the book 'Kipper', by Mick Inkpen. Very apt name :) and I love his naive water colours. This is 'Sock Thing'...from Kipper's toy box.
This is 'Rabbit'...
This is one of the mice that was eating Kipper's basket...
And this is a little fellow I made up, from my very own imagination. I thought he wasn't too bad.
So I'd like to encourage you to have a go at something you've never done before, and you never know what you might be able to do.My kids seemed suitably inspired, and all had a go at painting something too.
